Quilt Blocks of Texas

"Celebrate Texas"

Welcome to Quilt Blocks of Texas. Here you will find quilt block designs that celebrate Texas history, Texas Flora, and Texas Fauna. And there are patterns for boots and hats for all cowboys and cowgirls.

Texas history blocks

Twenty-one block titles celebrate Texas history from the early 1800’s to the discovery of oil. One of two traditional Lone Star/Texas Star patterns or a 5 pointed star has been incorporated into the designs making them distinctly quilt blocks of Texas. Each block design can be made as a 12” block or an 18” block. Each set of directions comes with illustrations and a page of block patterns. By making copies of the block pattern pages, blocks can be colored, cut out, and arranged so you can see what your quilt project will look like before you start. Now families can use quilting projects to show some of their Texas roots.

Each block title comes with a “little bit of Texas history” and an explanation of the piecing as it relates to that part of Texas history. For those who would like to know more about people and events in Texas, visit  www.tshaonline.org.

Texas Flora

Texas has an abundance of beautiful wildflowers and I designed patterns for eight of the most common wildflowers. The patterns can be hand appliquéd or fused and come with directions for both methods. For information about Texas wildflowers, visit the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center at www.wildflower.org.

Texas Fauna

My Texas animal patterns come in one package titled “God Bless Texas”. This package contains patterns for a cross, five of the most recognizable Texas fauna, and several additional Texas patterns. Quilt projects can be made and personalized with the Texas things you like. Wildflower patterns can be reduced in size and used with the fauna patterns. There are so many possibilities in creating quilt projects with Texas flora and fauna.
